Wheat
- In September the exports of grain from Russia will reach a historic record-high of about 5.2 million tonnes (3.93 million tonnes a year earlier), including 4.2 million tonnes of wheat, according to Russagrotrans forecast.The previous record was set in August 2017 - 4.84 million tonnes, incl. 3.06 million tonnes of wheat.
- Russia's Ministry of Health has increased its forecast for grain exports from the country in 2017-2018 to 45 million tonnes, incl. wheat 30 million tonnes. Since the beginning of the season, over 10 million tonnes of grain have been exported incl. over 8 million tonnes of wheat.
- The state support for the rail transport of grain in Russia will start in early October. These subsidies will increase the export of grain during the season by about 2 million tonnes.
- According to Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecast, the wheat crops will be 17 million tonnes (16.8 years earlier).
Grain
- The grain crop estimates in Russia rose by 1 million tonnes to 133.3 million tonnes, incl.wheat 82.3 million tonnes (81.1), barley 19.5 million tonnes (19.3) and corn 16.1 million tonnes (16.5).
- Export of barley from Russia for September is expected to be 600,000 tonnes (456,000 a year earlier), 320,000 tonnes of corn (404,000).
- Until 28.09.2017 in Russia 40.6 million hectares of grain were harvested (86.1% of the area), 123.4 million tonnes of grain gross weight (110.4 million tonnes in 2016) are harvested at an average yield of 3.04 tonnes / hectare (2.61). Wheat harvested is 25.2 million hectares (91.3% and 26.3), 83.5 million tonnes of wheat (74.2) were harvested at an average yield of 3.31 tonnes / ha (2.82). Barley harvested is 7.4 million hectares (92.7% and 7.9), 20.7 million tonnes of barley (18.6) were harvested at an average yield of 2.81 tonnes / ha (2.34). Harvested corn is 827,600 hectares (28,4% and 612,400) , 4.0 tonnes of corn harvested (3.2) at an average yield of 4.8 tonnes / ha (5.21). Sunflower harvested is 1.8 million hectares (22.9% and 1.6), 3.5 million tonnes of sunflower harvested (3.0) at an average yield of 1.98 tonnes / ha (1.89).
- As of 28.09.2017 in Kazakhstan are harvested 21.077 tonnes of grain, 15.04 million hectares were harvested at an average yield of 1.4 tonnes / ha.
- Saudi Arabia has announced a tender for the purchase of 540,000 tonnes of feed barley with delivery in November - December.
- After a brief period of dry weather in Argentina, a new long-lasting series of rainfall is expected. In the past two weeks, 40% of the areas planned for corn and 12% of the areas planted for sunflower are sown. Soybeans sowing will begin in October.
- According to a forecast of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the corn crop will reach 41 million tonnes (39 a year earlier).
Oil crops and vegetable oils
- For two weeks sunflower oil prices in Russia are down by USD 30-35 / tonne from 775-780 USD / tonne to 740-750 USD / tonne.
- Between 1st and 25th September, Brazil's soybeans exports reached 3.4 million tonnes, which is twice as the same period in 2016.
- According to the Imea Institute, the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso has begun soybeans sowing. Up to now, only 0.15% of the planned areas have been sown, with 7.6 million acres.
- Indonesia changed the mechanism for charging the export duty on palm oil. In the near future the duty will be charged not in percent but in a fixed amount of 3 - 200 USD / tonne + 50 USD / tonne.
- In 2016 - 2017 the global palm oil production reached 65.4 million tonnes, and exports 47.1 million tonnes. Consumption reached a record-high level of 63.8 million tonnes and is expected to continue its steady growth in the new season, according to Oil World's latest forecast.
- According to Oil World, in the period January - August 2017, China imported 63.3 million tonnes of soybeans at 53.9 million tonnes a year earlier. In August, imports reached 8.45 million tonnes (7.67). Imports are expected to fall to 7.5 to 8 million tonnes in September.
In August rapeseed imports to China reached 318,000 tonnes (429,000 a year earlier) and from the beginning of the year - 3.36 million tonnes (2.76).
- According to a forecast of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the soybeans crop in Argentina in the current year will be 54 million tonnes (57.5 million tonnes a year earlier). In 2017 the areas with soybeans decreased to 18.1 million hectares (19.2), and farmers switched to crop wheat and corn.
