Grain Highlights

As of October 2, 2017 harvest in Russia is completed on 41.8 million hectares under grain crops cultivation, 125.6 million tonnes of grain are harvested (111.7 million tonnes a year earlier) at average yield 3.0 mt/ha(2.6). Wheat harvested amounts to 84.7 million tonnes (75.2).

Wheat

- In 2018 Ukraine will be able to export without import duty, 1,025 million tonnes of wheat to the EU (960,000 tonnes in 2017), 1,075 million tonnes of corn (450,000) and 595,000 tonnes of barley (270,000).

- Syria will purchase 3 million tonnes of wheat from Russia as payment will be made in Russian rubles.

- On September 28, 2017 Algeria purchased 480,000 tonnes of milling wheat for December shipment at 211-212 USD / mt, C & F. The main volume of wheat will be delivered by France.

- FranceAgrimer confirms that wheat harvest in France in the current season amounts to 37.8 million tonnes (+ 6% compared to the average for the last five years). From the harvest, 44% are rated as Premium at 10% on average for the past five years, 25% with high quality, 26% with average quality and 5% not classified.

- Egypt's strategic wheat reserves now reach 4.8 million tonnes, that will be enough to meet demand until the end of February 2018.

- Today, October 3, 2017. Egypt will end the unloading of Romanian wheat with increased poppy content.

 

Grain

- As of October 2, 2017. in Kazakhstan, 99.3% of the grain areas are harvested and 21.406 million tonnes of grain are harvested.

- 40.3 million tonnes of grain from 10.5 million hectares (72% of the forecast) were harvested in Ukraine at an average yield of 3.84 mt/ ha.

- Saudi Arabia purchased 540,000 tonnes of feed barley from the EU, the Black Sea region, North and South America and Australia at price of 211.98 - 221.74 USD / mt, C & F.

Oil crops and vegetable oils

- According to Oil World, in the last quarter of 2016 - 2017, Pakistan increases soybean import over 2.5 times compared to the previous year to 610,000 tonnes. For the whole 2016 - 2017. the import reaches the record 1.6 million tonnes (+0.6).

- New crop rapeseed in Ukraine is massively drying due to lack of humidity. According to Latifundist.com, 752,000 hectares have already been planted with the crop at estimated 777,000 hectares for the season.

- According to the latest Strategie Grains forecast, in 2017 - 2018, EU rapeseed crop will be 21.89 million tonnes (+ 7.6% compared with the previous year), that of sunflower 8.75 million tonnes (+4.2%), soybean 2.6 million tonnes (+ 5.5%). Rapeseed yield will be 3.25 mt/ ha (3.24), soybean 2.66 mt/ ha (2.68), sunflower 2.08 mt/ ha (2.1).

- 6.8 million tonnes of sunflower from 3.6 million hectares (61%) were harvested in Ukraine.

- In 2016 - 2017. Kazakhstan exported the record 720,000 tonnes of oil crops, which is 56% more than 2015-2016.

- As of September 29, 2017. in the Brazilian state Parana, only 2% of the soybean areas were sown at 14% a year earlier.

- According to Oil World, in August 2017, China imported 75,000 tonnes of soybean oil at 93,000 tonnes in August 2016. and 0.43 million tonnes of palm oil (0.41). During the period January - August 2017, 512,000 tonnes of soybean oil (379,000), 583,000 tonnes of rapeseed oil (453,000) and 2.8 million tonnes of palm oil (2,66) were imported into the country.

- As of October 2, 2017. sunflower harvested in Russia is 4.0 million tonnes (3.4) at an average yield of 1.91 mt/ ha (1.86).
