Wheat
- According to the Ministry of Health of the UK, in 2017 wheat crop in the country will be 5.4% bigger than in 2016 and will reach 15.16 million tonnes. The growth is a result of the higher yields that have compensated the less areas of -3%. The average yield will be at 7.9 - 8.1 tonnes / hectar. The initial wheat stocks for the season are at their lowest level for the past 3 years - 1.77 million tonnes (average 2.1 million tonnes).
- In the period July-August, 0.4 million tonnes of wheat were exported from Kazakhstan, up by 23% from the previous season. Wheat flour exports reached 343,000 tonnes (+ 22%).
- According to the latest FAO forecast, in 2017 - 2018 the global wheat crop will be 750 million tonnes (749 million tonnes in the previous forecast and 760 million tonnes in 2016 - 2017). The consumption of wheat will be 734 million tonnes (731 and 732) and the ending stocks will be 261 million tonnes (262 and 246).
- About half of the wheat areas in Argentina have suffered fromthe big rainfall in the recent weeks. For 2017 - 2018 the wheat areas are 5.4 million hectares. Grain quality will be significantly reduced. The harvest begins in November.
Grain
- As of 06.10.2017 in Ukraine 42.9 million tonnes of grain were collected from 11.1 million hectares (76% of the areas, which are 14.6 million hectares), incl. 5 million tonnes of corn from 1.2 million hectares (26%).
- As of 06.10.2017 in Ukraine are sown 5.0 million hectares (69%) with winter grains.
- The Russian Ministry of Health will ask for the abolition of the export duty for wheat, which is now at a 0% rate. The government has stated its intention not to limit the export of grain from the country in any way.
- The Russian government is preparing a decree regulating the compensation of part of the costs for the rail transport of grain for regions that are far from the ports. According to the government estimates, this measure will increase the annual grain exports from the country by 3 million tonnes.
- Brazil's largest Brazilian farmer, Caramuru Company, will build an ethanol production plant. So far, the company has processed 1.76 million tonnes of soybeans and 233,000 tonnes of corn.
- According to the latest FAO forecast, the global grain crop (+ rice) in 2017 - 2018 will reach 2,612 million tonnes at a previous forecast of 2,611 million tonnes and crop in 2016-2017 amounting to 2,605 million tonnes. Consumption will be 2,589 million tonnes (2,591 and 2,563) and the ending stocks - 721 million tonnes (719 and 702).
- According to the latest FAO forecast in 2017 - 2018, the global forage grain crop will be 1,361 million tonnes (1,359 and 1,345), consumption will be 1,352 million tonnes (1,354 and 1,333) and the stocks - 290 million tonnes (286 and 287).
- According to the latest FAO forecast in 2017 - 2018, the global rice crop will be 501 million tonnes (503 and 501), consumption will be 503 million tonnes (507 and 498) and the ending stocks - 170 million tonnes (171 and 169).
- As of 06.10.2017 , in Russia, 42.7 million hectares of grain (90.7% of the area) are harvested. 128.0 million tonnes of grain were harvested at an average yield of 3.0 tonnes / hectare (2.61 tonnes / ha in 2016-2017). The harvested wheat is 85.5 million tonnes gross weight (94.8% of the area). The harvested corn is 5.5 million tonnes (39.8% of the area) at an average yield of 4.7 tonnes / ha (5.29).
Oils and vegetable oils
- As of 06.10.2017, in Ukraine, 8.9 million tonnes of sunflower are harvested from 4.7 million hectares (79%).
- As of 06.10.2017 in Ukraine are sown 805,000 hectares with winter rapeseed (104% of the forecast).
- According to Oil World, the global exports of soybeans reached 10.18 million tonnes at only 6.55 million tonnes in September 2016. The Brazilian soybeans exports reached 4.27 million tonnes (1.44), US - 4.25 million tonnes (3.72), and Argentina - 0.92 million tonnes (0.97). 3.3 million tonnes of soybeans (+ 76%) were exported in September from the US and Brazil to China.
- According to Oil World data, in September, 4.27 million tonnes of soybeans were exported from Brazil at 5.9 million tonnes in August. The September result for September is a new record-high. The exports of soybean oil are 20,000 tonnes (147,000 tonnes in September 2016) and soybean meal - 1,16 million tonnes (0.9).
- According to Oil World data, 61.17 million tonnes of soybeans (49.6), 1.07 million tonnes of soybean oil (1.09) and 11.15 million tonnes of soybean meal (11.8) were exported from Brazil in the period January - September.
- Due to the several hurricanes that hit the United States in September, the harvested soybeans has lowered quality now. Exporters can not find large lots of quality soybeans to export to China. Chinese buyers do not agree to get soybeans of lower quality. Another problem is the low water level of Mississippi river. Farmers now supply large quantities of corn and soybeans for export, but they are hardly transported to the ports in the Gulf of Mexico.
- As of 06.10.2017, 4.7 million tonnes of sunflower (33.3% of the area) were harvested in Russia at an average yield of 1.82 tonnes / ha (1.78).
