In December, exports of soft wheat from France fell due to the suspended exports to China.

- In December, exports of soft wheat from France fell due to the suspended exports to China. Exports to non-EU countries were 797,000 tons (877,000 tons in November), incl. exports to China of 271,300 tons. During the period July-December, exports to China are over 1 million ton and the figure is expected to reach 2 million tons for the whole year.

- On Thursday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of all grain contracts, including:

  • 5,500 sold contracts of corn
  • 12,000 sold contracts of soybeans
  • 5,500 sold contracts of SRW wheat

- According to a forecast of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange ,the wheat production in Argentina will be 17 million tons in 2020/21 compared to 16.8 million tons in the previous estimate.

- After the discussions between the representatives of the farmers in Argentina and the government, an agreement was reached for the authorities to review the conditions for banning the export of corn from the country until March 1, 2021.

- September pork contract fell by 10% on the commodity exchange in Dalian from 30,680 yuan/ton to 27,610 yuan/ton. The decline is due to the increasing supply of pork in the country.

- The Indonesian Palm Oil Association, GAPKI, has asked the government to reformulate biodiesel blending rates or to revise the palm oil's export tax. Malaysian palm oil started the year with record quotes of 950.81 USD/ton and further expanded its premium to crude oil, making it an unsustainable option as a feedstock for biodiesel.

- According to industry analysts, in the first quarter of 2021, palm oil prices will remain high, but will fall sharply in the second, when oil palm plantations will increase.
