The USDA attaché in Brazil has lowered the forecast for the country's corn production in 2020/21 by 2 million tons to a total of 105 million tons.

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of all grains, including corn (-15,000), soybeans (-14,500) and wheat (-1,500).

- The USDA attaché in Brazil has lowered the forecast for the country's corn production in 2020/21 by 2 million tons to a total of 105 million tons. The areas planted with corn will be at the record level of 19.5 million hectares (+1 million hectares compared to the previous estimate).

- In Argentina, transport workers closed the roads to the ports of Buenos Aires, Bahia Blanca and Kequena aiming to reduce the cost of maintaining the transport business.

- In the last two weeks, Chinese importers have bought 10 loads of Brazilian soybeans, as well as palm and soy oil amid declining soybean processors' margins - a drop of 20 USD/ton for the previous week. The first 4-5 orders of soybeans will be delivered in February - March, including 3 orders of palm oil and 1 order of soyoil.

- China has stepped up its purchases of rapeseed oil from the EU due to reduced supply from other exporters. In January, the rapeseed imports were 50,000 tons and in the period of January - March they are projected to reach 160,000 - 200,000 tons. Rapeseed oil imports to China are expected to reach 300,000 tons for the period of January - April. Over the months of October-November, 2020, imports were only 64,000 tons.

- As of 01.01.2021, there were grain stocks of 37.7 million tons available in the agricultural, procurement and processing enterprises of Russia (+4% compared to the previous year), including 22.6 million tons of wheat (+ 9%).

- In January, exports of sunseed meal from Ukraine reached 287,500 tons, which is more than 50% less than in December and is the lowest level in five years. Exports to China reached 43,000 tons (300,000) and exports to the EU were 144,000 tons (200,000).

- Turkey has announced a tender for the purchase of 235,000 tons of feed corn of any origin and delivery in February - March.

- According to government data from Egypt, the country has sufficient wheat stocks that could last until the end of July 2021. Usually a new tender follows after such news. Now, however, this may not happen, because a few days ago 480,000 tons of wheat were purchased from France, Ukraine, Russia and Romania.

- Egypt's state-owned company, GASC, has purchased 60,000 tons of soybean oil at a tender for the purchase of 30,000 tons.
