- In Jan 2021, exports of French soft wheat outside the EU reached 561,000 tons compared to 797,000 tons in December and 877,000 tons in November. This is the lowest monthly level since 2017. The reduction is due to the lack of exports to China. In January, the largest customers were Algeria with 219,000 tons and Morocco with 94,000 tons.
- In Dec 2020, 423.020 million liters of ethanol were exported from the United States, which is 2% less than in November and 24% less than in Dec 2019. In 2020, total exports reached 5.06 billion liters (-9%). Canada is one of the largest importers with 87.24 million liters imported in Dec 2020 and a total of 1.24 billion liters in 2020.
- According to Statistics Canada, canola stocks in Canada were 12.14 million tons as of 31.12.2020, which is 24% less than the previous year and the lowest level for the last 8 years. During the period August-December 2020, canola exports from Canada reached a record of 5.2 million tons (+51.5%) and domestic consumption reached 4.4 million tons (+3.8%). Wheat stocks decreased by 4% to 24.85 million tons (lowest level for the last 3 years), barley stocks dropped by 5% to 5.68 million tons (lowest point for the past 2 years) and soybean stocks fell by 9% to 3.69 million tons (lowest level for the last 4 years) .
- According to Anec's forecast, soybean exports from Brazil will reach 6-8.5 million tons in February compared to 6.6 million tons in Feb 2020. Exports of soymeal are projected at 1.2 million tons (1.02) and corn exports at 426,900 tons (415,280).
- Last week, the sunflower harvesting campaign in Argentina was carried out on only 2.7% of the area and since the beginning of the campaign it adds up to 12.5% compared to 19.6% a year earlier.
- The Government of Argentina has increased the tariffs for grain transport by 22.5% and thus has satisfied the demands of the transport industry. In the coming days, normalization of shipments to ports is expected.
- According to the forecast of the Russian Grain Union, grain exports from Russia will reach 52.7 million tons in 2020/21.
- In 2020, Turkey imported 9.75 million tons of soft and durum wheat, 2.07 million tons of corn and 0.891 million tons of barley. The main supplier was Russia - 6.543 million tons of wheat, 659,000 tons of corn and 244,000 tons of barley. Ukraine exported 1,052 million tons of wheat, 564,000 tons of corn and 58,000 tons of barley to Turkey. Turkey also purchased 543,000 tons of wheat from Canada, 445,000 tons of corn from Romania, 417,000 tons of wheat from Mexico and 312,000 tons of barley from Syria.
