- According to the latest ICAR forecast, the wheat production in Russia will reach 79.5 million tons in 2021 compared to 81 million tons in the previous estimate from 2 weeks ago. The reason for the reduction is the great amount of wheat areas in poor condition located in the central parts of the country. The reduction is not significant, but it is a good indicator.
- According to a forecast by Rusagrotrans, wheat exports from Russia will remain at record levels this season despite the slow pace in recent months. During the period of 01.07.2020 - 18.04.2021, total wheat exports reached 34.5 million tons (29.8 million tons a year earlier). The second best achievement was set in 2017/18 - 33.5 million tons. In April, exports are predicted to reach a total of 1.7 million tons, including 0.8 million tons of wheat, 0.6 million tons of barley and 0.3 million tons of corn.
- According to UkrAgroConsult's forecast, the sunseed production in the Black Sea region will reach a record level of 39.7 million tons in 2021/22 (34.2 million tons in 2020/21), including:
- Ukraine - 16.1 million tons (14)
- Russia - 15.5 million tons (13.5)
- Romania - 2.5 million tons (1.9)
- Turkey - 1.8 million tons (1.6) .
- In the period July - March, wheat exports from Ukraine reached 14.4 million tons compared to 17.9 million tons a year earlier. The export potential is fulfilled at 82% for the season. The largest customers were Indonesia with 2.2 million tons, Egypt with 2.1 million tons and Pakistan with 1.4 million tons.
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 27,500 contracts of corn, 12,000 contracts of soybeans and 9,000 contracts of wheat.
- According to Anec's forecast, soybean exports from Brazil will reach 16.79 million tons in April compared to the previously forecasted 17.15 million tons. In March, exports were 14.9 million tons and in April 2020 - 14.3 million tons. Corn exports in April will be only 29,900 tons.
- In May, farmers in Argentina will start the sowing campaign of wheat from the 2021/22 crop. According to the forecast of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, wheat areas will reach 6.5 million acres, which is at the same level as 2020/21.
- According to the forecast of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the corn production in Argentina will reach 50 million tons in 2020/21, which is 1.5 million tons more than the February estimate.
- According to USDA estimates, corn imports in Jordan will reach 900,000 ton in the new season s, incl. from the US 100,000 tons. For the first time in the last three seasons, there will be deliveries from the United States. Imports of barley are projected at 800,000 tons (+14.3%) and wheat imports at 1.2 million tons.
