- Rainfall in France has slowed down the harvesting campaign of wheat and wheat exports. In French ports, ships are now waiting for loading for more than a month. French companies are trying to get wheat from Germany. Months ago, China bought about 1 million tons of French wheat with delivery in September, which will further worsen the chaotic situation in French ports.
- Argentine traders also have difficult logistical problems to solve. The water level in the key Rosario hub has dropped by 20 cm below sea level. The strike of truck drivers is also creating problems. The logistics costs of Argentine exporters have tripled in recent weeks and production has become uncompetitive when it comes to prices.
- As of August 9, 2021, 16.1 million hectares of wheat were harvested in Russia, 54.05 million tons of wheat were harvested at an average yield of 3.36 tons/hectare (3.40 tons/hectare as of August 6, 2021 and 3.67 tons/hectare as of August 9, 2020). 4.59 million hectares have been harvested with barley, 12.4 million tons of barley have been harvested at an average yield of 2.7 tons/hectare. The average wheat yield is declining quite rapidly as the campaign progresses.
- According to the latest forecast of AIOVE, the soybean production in Brazil will be 137.5 million tons in 2020/21 compared to 128 million tons in 2019/20. Soybean exports are estimated at 86.7 million tons (83). Brazil's soybean processing is projected at 46.5 million tons (46.8), domestic soybean consumption is expected at 17.4 million tons (19). Soymeal exports are predicted at 16.9 million tons (16.9), domestic soyoil consumption is estimated at 8.7 million tons 8.5) and exports are estimated at 1.2 million tons (1.1). Brazil's ending soybean stocks are expected to reach 4.2 million tons (2.9).
- According to Secex, 143,560 tons of corn were exported from Brazil in the first week of August, which is 51.7% less than the previous year. The average weekly export in July was 90,150 tons.
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 2,000 contracts of corn, 3,500 contracts of soybeans and 4,000 contracts of wheat.
