Grain Highlights 20.06.2022

Over the months of March-May, 1.06 million tons of Russian wheat were delivered to Egypt, which is 84% more than the previous year.

- Over the period of 01.07.2021 - 19.06.2022, 42.730 million tons of grain were exported from Russia (-11% compared to 2020/21), including 35.78 million tons of wheat (-4.6%). During the period of validity of the quotas (15.02 - 19.06), grain exports reached 9.716 million tons, including 7,554 million tons of wheat, 1,541 million tons of corn, 570,000 tons of barley and 40,000 tons of rye.

- During the week of June 13-19, 171,700 tons of grain were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which is 64% more than the previous week. 97,100 tons of wheat, 67,500 tons of barley, 7,000 tons of corn were exported.

- Over the period of 01.07.2021 - 20.06.2022, 47.876 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine, and from the beginning of June, exports reach 777.000 tons. 18,661 million tons of wheat (53,000), 5,737 million tons of barley, 23,006 million tons of corn (689,000) were exported.

- The sowing of sunseed and soybeans has been completed in Ukraine. 4,702 million hectares have been sown with sunseed and 1.2 million hectares with soybeans. 4.639 million hectares have been sown with corn.

- According to Oil World, 148,000 tons of sunseed oil were delivered to the EU in April (162,000 in March and 142,000 in April 2021). The largest importers were Poland with 44,000 tons, Italy with 31,000 tons, Hungary  with 18,000 tons and the Netherlands with 10,000 tons. The largest suppliers were Ukraine with 106,000 tons (99,000 and 128,000), Russia with 19,000 tons, Moldova with 16,000 tons and Argentina with 2,000 tons. During the month, imports of sunseed meal reached 219,000 tons (264,000 and 248,000).

- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 1,000 contracts of corn, 2,000 contracts of soybeans and 17,000 contracts of wheat.

- According to Anec's forecast, 12.98 - 14.83 million tons of agricultural products will be exported from Brazil in June (13.35 in May), including 9 - 10.84 million tons of soybeans, 2.19 million tons of soymeal and 1.79 million tons of corn. In June 2021, exports of soybeans were 10.13 million tons, soymeal were 1.84 million tons and corn exports reached 89,200 tons.

- According to the forecast of Intertek Testing Services, exports of palm oil from Malaysia in June will fall by 10.5%. Over the period of June 1 - 10, exports were 738,400 tons (824,600 a month earlier). The largest customers since the beginning of the month are the EU with 205,600 tons (235,600), China with 104,800 tons (60,400) and India with 97,700 tons (139,900).

- India and Indonesia are negotiating the exchange of wheat for palm oil at market prices.

- Kazakhstan and Iran have signed an agreement for the supply of 1 million tons of Kazakh grain to Iran.

- Algeria has announced a tender for the purchase of at least 50,000 tons of wheat with delivery within July-August. Deliveries from Europe will take place in August.
