Grain Highlights 12.07.2022

The Ministry of Agriculture of France predicts a 2022/23 wheat production in the country of 32.9 million tons (-7.2% compared to 2021/22), a barley production of 11.18 million tons (-2.4%) and rapeseed production of 4 million tons (3.3).

- According to USDA data, as of 10/07/2022, 70% of spring wheat crops in the United States were in good and excellent condition (+4% compared to the previous week and 54% a year earlier). 54% of the corn crops are in good and excellent condition (54% a week earlier), as well as 62% of the soybean crops (-1%). The harvesting campaign of winter wheat has been carried out on 63% of the areas.

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 5,500 contracts of corn and 5,000 contracts of soybeans and net sellers of 12,500 contracts of wheat.

- According to Oil World data, 10.8 million tons of wheat were exported from Argentina over the period January - May (6.09 a year earlier). 5 million tons of wheat were sent to African countries (1.5 a year earlier), 1.2 million tons to Indonesia (0.5), 3.8 million tons to Central and South American countries (3.1).

- According to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2.59 million tons of wheat and durum were exported from Australia in May, which is 7% less than in April. The biggest customers were China, Indonesia, Sudan, Vietnam, the Philippines.

- According to MPOB data, in June palm oil stocks in Malaysia rose to the highest level for the last 7 months to 1.66 million tons (+8.76% compared to May) given the reduced exports. Palm oil production was 1.55 million tons (+5.76% for the month) – highest level for the last 7 months.
