Grain Highlights 14.09.2022

Over the period of 01.07 - 14.09.2022, 5,805 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine (10,926 a year earlier), including 1,508 million tons in September (2,301 a year earlier).

- In the first half of September, wheat exports from Russia reached 1.323 million tons (-28.3% compared to the previous year). Over the same period, barley exports totaled 133,500 tons (-41%) and corn exports reached 10,000 tons (-67%).

- Ukraine has entered the 2022/23 season with record stocks of grain. Wheat stocks were 5.3-5.5 million tons (+150% compared to 2021/22), barley stocks were 1.1 million tons (+14%) and corn stocks were 7.7 million tons (+380%).

- According to a government forecast from Ukraine, the grain production in the country in 2022 will reach 51.9 million tons (86 a year earlier).

Exports of wheat were 1,834 million tons (577,000), barley exports reached 525,000 tons (195,000) and corn exports were 3,424 million tons (730,000).

- According to the statistics of Kazakhstan, as of September 1, 2022, the stocks of cereals in the country were 7,136 million tons (4,076 a month earlier).

- Yesterday, Chicago commodity funds were net buyers of 1,000 wheat contracts and net sellers of 4,500 soybean and 4,000 corn contracts.

- According to Safras&Mercado data, as of 09/09/2022, 99.2% of the 2021/22 second crop corn areas in Brazil have been harvested. Sowing campaign of the 2022/23 soybean crop has begun in the state of Paraná.

- According to Abiove data, over the period of 2020 – 2022, oilseed processing capacity in Brazil increased by 4.1% compared to the previous two-year period.

- The government of Egypt has lifted the ban on the export of wheat and other foodstuffs and goods. The restriction was in effect for the last 6 months.

- Jordan has canceled a tender for the purchase of 120,000 tons of milling wheat of any origin.
