- The export duty on Russian sunseed oil in February remains at zero rate, and the export tax on sunseed meal it will rise to 2,200.7 rubles/ton (1,826.9 in January).
- According to data from S&P Global Commodity Insights, wheat areas in the United States will be 20.2 million hectares in 2023/24 (+9% compared to 2022/23). 15 million hectares (+11%) will be sown with winter wheat, 4.5 million hectares (+3%) with spring wheat, 0.7 million hectares (+4%) with hard varieties. Corn areas are projected at 36.6 million hectares (+2%), soybean areas are expected at 35.6 million hectares (+1%) and sorghum areas are estimated at 2.7 million hectares (+4%).
- Yesterday Chicago commodity funds were net buyers of 8,000 contracts of corn and 6,000 contracts of wheat and net sellers of 1,000 contracts of soybeans.
- Anec forecasts corn exports from Brazil in January amounting to 5.2 million tons (5.1 in the previous estimate and 2.2 in January 2022). Exports of wheat will be 803,813 tons (753,044 and 695,953), and soybean exports are estimated at 1.3 million tons (2 and 2.2). Soymeal exports in January were unchanged from December and January 2022 at 1.5 million tons.
- According to market operators, China has purchased 5-6 to 10-15 carloads of fodder barley from France with March-April delivery. The total amount of barley purchased could reach 900,000 tons.
- According to GAPKI's estimate, Indonesia has reduced palm oil exports in 2022 to 30.8 million tons (33.7 in 2021). Palm oil production reached 46.5 million tons (-0.4%). Palm oil stocks at the end of 2022 reached 3.65 million tons (4.13).
- In the first quarter of 2023, palm oil imports to India will decrease to 2.2 million tons (3.1 in the last quarter of 2022). At the beginning of January, palm oil stocks in the country reached a record 3.2 million tons (1.7 a year earlier).
- Iraq has announced a tender to buy 50,000 tons of milling wheat from the United States, Australia or Canada.
