Grain Highlights 27.04.2023

According to the forecast of APC - Inform, the sunseed production in Ukraine will reach 12.78 million tons in 2023 (+15% compared to 2022). Sunseed exports are projected to reach 1.4 million tons (-39%).

- In April, the American bank JPMorgan received permission from the US authorities to carry out operations jointly with Rosselkhozbank related to the export of agricultural products from Russia. None of the parties denies the permission, including UN representatives.

- As of April 1, 2023, grain stocks in Russia's harvesting and processing enterprises were 18,055 million tons, including wheat stocks of 12.88 million tons.

- According to Agritel's forecast, the wheat production in Romania will reach 10.35 million tons in 2023 (9.19 in 2022). Average yield is projected to reach 4.88 tons/hectare (4.82) with good soil moisture now.

- The European Commission may ban the import of cereals and oil crops from Ukraine to Romania until 06/05/2023.

- Chicago commodity funds were net sellers of 5,000 contracts of corn, 1,000 contracts of soybeans and 3,500 contracts of wheat yesterday.

- According to a forecast by Statistics Canada, wheat areas in Canada will be 27 million acres in 2023/24 (+6.2% compared to 2022), canola areas will be 21.6 million acres (+0.9%), soybean areas will reach 5.5 million acres (+4.5%), barley areas are expected at 7.1 million acres (+0.6%) and corn areas are estimated at 3.7 million acres (+2.8%).

- Iraq has purchased 150,000 tons of milling wheat most likely from Australia at 387 USD/ton C&F. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country, with a production of 4 million tons, the import will be 0.6 - 1 million tons.

- Tunisia bought 75,000 tons of soft wheat of any origin with delivery within June – July and at a price of 304.80 – 311.19 USD/ton C&F.
