Grain Highlights 10.07.2024

Between July 1 and July 10, 1.131 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine (698,000 tons a year earlier), including 320,000 tons of wheat (212,000), 134,000 tons of barley (65,000), and 673,000 tons of corn (420,000).

- As of 10.07.2024, the average grain yield in the Rostov region of Russia is 3.45 tons/hectare, compared to 4.0 tons/hectare a year earlier.

- In Ukraine, over 4 million tons of winter crops—wheat and barley—have already been harvested. Yields of these crops are expected to be 5–7% lower in the new season compared to the previous year.

- In 2023/24, Ukraine exported 57.5 million tons of grain, including 18.4 million tons of wheat, 2.5 million tons of barley, and 3.7 million tons of rapeseed.

- The Union of Field Farmers of Kazakhstan forecasts a grain production of nearly 30 million tons in the country for 2024, surpassing the 2011 level of 26.9 million tons. This would be a record result, repeating the achievement of 1986.

- According to the forecast from the French Ministry of Agriculture, the rapeseed production in France for 2024 will be 3.94 million tons, down 7.7% from 2023. The soft wheat production is expected to reach 29.7 million tons, down 15.4%, and the barley production is estimated at 11.29 million tons, down 8%. UFOP predicts a global rapeseed shortage in 2024/25, with the production expected to be 87.2 million tons, down 2% from 2023/24.

- On 09.07.2024, Jordan canceled a tender to purchase 120,000 tons of milling wheat of any origin due to high prices.

- In the first half of 2024, Egypt imported 6.8 million tons of wheat, which is 28.3% more than the previous year.
