- According to the latest forecast by SovEcon, Russia's wheat exports in October will reach 5 million tons (5.1 million in September), barley exports are expected at 0.2 million tons (0.4), and corn exports are estimated at 0.2 million tons (0.3).
- "Novorossiysk Grain Terminal," part of Demetra Holding, plans to expand its grain export capacity to 11 million tons by 2027, up from the current 6.5 million tons. NGT is continuing the construction of the Auto1500 project to increase exports by road transport to 1.5 million tons annually. The Rail5000 project is also underway, which will allow exports by rail to reach 5 million tons annually. This expansion will bring the annual capacity to 11 million tons.
- Due to the poor sunseed production in Ukraine, product prices are rising, and sunseed processing plants are unable to pay market rates. Some factories plan to halt operations, while others consider switching to soybean processing.
- Strategie Grains has once again lowered its forecast for the EU sunseed production in 2024/25 from 8.9 million tons to 8.8 million tons, which is 11% less than in 2023/24. The forecast for the rapeseed production remains unchanged at 16.7 million tons (-16.5%), and the forecast for soybean production is at 2.9 million tons (+0.03%). Sunseed yields are expected to be 1.8 tons/hectare (2.1 in 2023/24), rapeseed yield is forecasted at 3 tons/hectare, and soybean yield at 2.6 tons/hectare.
- Since the beginning of the season, soybean imports in the EU have reached 3.73 million tons (+7% compared to the previous season). Rapeseed imports are at 1.69 million tons (+9%), sunseed imports at 160,000 tons (+62%). Imports of soymeal are 5.36 million tons (+9%), soyoil imports reached 80,000 tons (-65%), rapeseed oil imports totalled 90,000 tons (-51%), palm oil imports were 980,000 tons (-17%), and sunseed oil are at 590,000 tons (-18%).
- According to USDA data as of October 27, 2024, 80% of the planned winter wheat acreage in the United States has been planted (82% a year ago and 84% on average over the last five years). Only 38% of the crops are in good to excellent condition, the second-lowest figure (47% a year ago). Corn harvesting campaign has been completed on 81% of the acreage, and the harvesting campaign of soybeans has been completed on 89% of the areas.
- According to an FAS USDA forecast, Brazil's soybean production in 2024/25 will reach a record 161 million tons (+6% compared to 2023/24). Exports will also be at a record high of 102 million tons (99), with domestic processing at 55.5 million tons (+2.5%). Exports will be supported by a weak real.
- The government of Pakistan has authorized the import of GM soybeans, resolving the issue for the country's poultry industry. Import licenses have been issued to 39 companies.
- Tunisia has announced a tender to purchase 75,000 tons of durum wheat with delivery within November-December.
