On January 25, 2017, Israeli importers carried out an auction for the purchase of 85,000 tons of corn, 40,000 tons of wheat fodder and 25,000 tons of barley fodder. 85,000 tons of corn were actually purchased at 179.71 USD/ton C&F in a May contract in Chicago + 0,84 USD/bushel.

40,000 tons of wheat at 180.50 USD/ton C&F and 25,000 tons of barley at 178 – 179.50 USD/ton C&F were purchased. Delivery is to be made between April 17 and May 17, 2017.

Indian millers bought 50,000 tons of Australian standard quality wheat, protein 9%, price 221 – 225 USD/ton C&F to be delivered in February. Indian importers have now restricted the purchases expecting the oncoming new harvest and earlier purchased wheat. No purchases from Ukraine are now made, but only from Australia to be delivered in February and March. 

Bangladesh purchased 50,000 tons of wheat from Canada with protein content of 13.5% at 275 USD/ton C&F to be delivered in April.

Indonesian millers bought 20,000 tons of Canadian wheat at 270 USD/ton C&F to be delivered in April.

The latest FAS USDA forecast informs that 5.5 mln tons of wheat (+10% compared with the November forecast) will be imported in Morocco in 2016 – 2017. In the beginning of 2017 soft wheat stocks in Morocco were 150,000 tons, hard wheat 60,000 tons and barley 100,000 tons. This amount will cover domestic consumption until the end of February.

In 2016, sunflower and rapeseed production in Hungary reached a record level, national statistics say. Sunflower production reached the level of 1.9 mln tons (+21.6% compared with 2015) as fields grew by +4.9% up to 6.42 mln decares and crops grew by +15.7% up to 290 kg/decare. Rapeseed production grew by +49.4% up to 882,000 tons and crops grew by +28.4% up to 340 kg/decare while fields grew by 16.3% up to 2.57 mln decares.
