Wheat export from Russia was 25 mln tons in 2016, which was 19% higher than 2015. 3.73 mln tons of wheat were exported to Turkey between July 1, 2016 and January 16, 2017 with 3.58 mln tons exported to Egypt and 1.64 mln tons to Bangladesh.
Port charges for handling cargo in Ukraine will decrease steadily by 30 – 60% before December 19, 2017. The first stage of the reduction will be introduced before April 2017.
SAGIS reports that 1.87 mln tons of corn were imported into South Africa between the beginning of the season and January 27, 2017 compared with 805,050 tons a year earlier. Yellow corn imported grew to 1.212 mln tons (0.74) while white corn import was up to 658,800 tons (68,600). Argentina was the biggest yellow corn supplier with 997,700 tons followed by 94,460 tons, Ukraine with 102,290 tons and Romania 17,500 tons. 576,800 tons of white corn were imported from Mexico as well as 82,060 tons from the USA. 237,070 tons of yellow corn (166 200) as well as 374,060 tons of white corn (325,500) were exported from South Africa during the period.
1.5 mln tons of wheat will be imported in South Africa in 2016 - 2017 compared with 2.0 mln tons a year earlier and this will be the lowest level for the past seven years. Season wheat yield in the country is 1.89 mln tons (+31% compared with the previous season).
