France: Winter barley yield will increase by 14%

The Ministry of Agriculture of France published its first forecast for winter barley and winter rapeseed yields for the current year.

Winter barley yield will grow by 14% compared to last year and by 14.4% compared to the average five-year level, up to 9.341 million tonnes. Winter rapeseed yield will reach 4.766 million tonnes (+ 0.9% and -6.1%). The crops’ recovery is due to higher yields than last year.

France's Ministry of Agriculture specified the country's areas under grain cultivation to 9,502 million hectares (-0.6% and -0.1%).

The forecast for areas under corn cultivation will be 1.37 million hectares (-3.3% and -15%), under soft wheat - 5.15 million hectares (-0.5% and + 2.2%). After two seasons of drought, farmers prefer not to sow corn.
