Russia: harvest behind the times doesn't impact export

Harvest campaign lags behind schedule in Russia, though this does not impact the July export, that will be at the same lavels as in July 2016 - 2.3 – 2.5 mln tonnes, according to Rusagrotrans forecast.

In August 2016 export of grain from Russia was 4 million tonnes. It is now expected to reach 4.1 - 4.2 million tonne. From Russian deep-water ports, 1.8-1.9 million tonnes of grain will be exported at 1.56 million tonnes in August 2016.

Export prices of wheat with a protein content of 12.5% exceed the prices from 2016. By 25-30 USD/mt. Now Russian wheat is one of the most competitive in the world markets. 1.1 million tonnes of wheat for July August shipment and another 300,000 tonnes for September shipment were sold only to GASC.

It is estimated that in 2017 - 2018, exports of grain from Russia will be 37 - 40.5 million tonnes (35.5 million tonnes in the previous season). The increase will mainly be due to the export of wheat - 31 million tonnes (27). Corn export will reach 5.5 million tonnes (5.2), barley 3.4 million tonnes (2.8).

In 2017 the total grain crop in Russia will be 115.6 - 118.3 million tonnes (120.7).
