Brazil: Estimates for corn and soybean crop are raised again

Analysts of Conab raised again the estimates for corn crop in Brazil in 2016 – 2017 by 1.1 million tonnes to 97.1, 46.1% more than the previous year.

In particular, the first corn crop in the country is 30.6 million tonnes, which is 18.5% more than last year. Areas under corn cultivation, first crop increase by 3.7% to 5.4 million hectares and the average yield by 14.2% to 85.6 bushels / acre. The first corn crop has a share of 31% of the total corn crop during the season.

The production of second crop corn will be 66.6 million tonnes, which is 63.5% more than the previous year. Areas increased by 12.7% to 11.9 million hectares, and yields by 45.1% to 85.6 bushels / acre. Harvest of second crop corn grew by 66.6% over last year.

The Brazilian soybean crop is estimated to grow to 114 million tonnes, up 19.5% from last year, but the areas decline by 2%. The average soybean yield increased by 17.1%.
