India increases the import of vegetable oils

In July India imported 1.489 million tonnes of vegetable oils which is 33% more than July 2016.

In the period  November - July, 11 111 million tonnes of oil was imported into India, up by nearly 3% compered to the previous season.
In July 820,115 tonnes of palm oil, 468,000 tonnes of soybeans oil and 200,583 tonnes of other vegetable oils were imported.
Since the beginning of the season, palm oil imports reached 6.741 million tonnes (+ 9.1%), soybeans oil 2.449 million tonnes (-22.4%), sunflower oil 1.70 million tonnes (+ 42%), rapeseed oil 194,654 tonnes (-24%).
India does not plan to raise the current 10% import duty on the wheat. After the imposion of the customs duty in March 2017, India continues to import wheat, but in smaller volumes and predominantly from Ukraine.
