News from Argentina

According to Oil World, in 2017г areas under soybean cultivation in Argentina were 18.5 million hectares at 19.1 million hectares in the previous forecast.

The indicator is at 9 years low. The soybean crop will be 54 million tonnes at 55.5 million tonnes in 2016 and the average yield of 3.05 mt/ ha, which is 2% less than last year, but above average for recent years.

At the beginning of September, soybean stocks in Argentina reached a record 32 million tonnes, which is 3.1 million tonnes more than the previous year.

Due to the poor sales by the farmers, the soybean processing and export is at a low level. It is expected that 20.5 million tonnes of soybean (19.8) will be processed in Argentina in the second half of the season - September - February, and export will be 2 million tonnes (1.4).

Thus ending stocks will fall, but will remain high - 7.7 million tonnes (6.2).

In early September stocks of soybean oil were 338,000 tonnes (275,000 tonnes a year earlier).
