According to the forecast of TF Agroeconomica, due to the delay in the sowing campaign of second corn crop in Brazil, the areas with winter wheat 2021 will increase.

- According to USDA monitoring data, as of Feb 21, 2021, 40% of winter wheat crops in Kansas were in good and excellent condition, compared to 43% at the end of January and 35% a year earlier. In Texas, 30% of crops (33% and 31%) are in a similar condition. Crop conditions have deteriorated in Oklahoma and Illinois.

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 25,000 contracts of corn, 6,000 contracts of soybeans and 12,000 contracts of wheat.

- According to data from AgRural, as of 18.02.2021 15% of the soybean areas were harvested in Brazil compared to 31% a year earlier, which is the minimum level for the last 10 years. Last week, the campaign gained momentum and advanced by +6%. Corn from the second crop is sown on 24% of the area (51%).

- According to the forecast of TF Agroeconomica, due to the delay in the sowing campaign of second corn crop in Brazil, the areas with winter wheat 2021 will increase. In Paraná, the areas will increase by 10% compared to the previous season to a total of 1.23 million hectares and the production will be 3.63 million tons (+20%) and in Rio Grande de Sul production is projected at 2.5 million tons (+10.6%). The two states together produce about 90% of Brazil's total wheat production.

- Over the week of Feb 15 - 21, 147 tons of rapeseed were imported into the EU compared to 65,800 tons a week earlier. Other imports into the EU reached:

  • rapeseed meal- 812 tons (10,000)
  • soybean- 172,300 tons (207,200)
  • soymeal- 299,000 tons (420,000)
  • soyoil- 5,900 tons (6,200)
  • sunseed- 2,500 tons (12,800)
  • sunseed meal- 36,100 (58)

Since the beginning of the season, imports have reached 4.2 million tons of rapeseed (including 51% from Ukraine), 9.3 million tons of soybeans (49% from the United States) and 708,800 tons of sunseed (39% from Russia).

- In 2021, the corn production in South Africa will exceed that of 2020 and will reach a total of 16.87 million tons (15.3 million tons a year earlier).
