Grain Highlights 25.02.2021

According to the MPOC forecast, by the end of 2021 palm oil stocks in Malaysia will be quite low at approximately 1.5 million tons.

- As of 01.02.2021, sunflower stocks in Ukraine reached 5.45 million tons (7.14 million tons a year earlier).

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 12,500 contracts of corn, 10,000 contracts of soybeans and 9,500 contracts of wheat.

- In the coming days, rainfall in Brazil will continue and dry weather is expected in Argentina. This creates preconditions for a decline in soybean productions and rising prices. In recent days, India bought 10,000 tons of sunseed oil from Ukraine at a price of 1,470 USD/ton C&F, which raised  prices to 1,450 - 1,470 USD /ton FOB.

- According to CCOBN estimates, as of February 19, 2021, soybean stocks in China reached 5.78 million tons, which is 8% more than the previous year. Import rates are expected to remain the same. In the first quarter, 19.6 million tons will be imported to China, compared to 17.8 million tons a year earlier. As of 23.02.2021, 23 soybean ships for China with a total weight of 2.76 million tons (5.77) were loaded in Brazilian ports.

- According to the MPOC forecast, palm oil stocks in Malaysia will be quite low at approximately 1.5 million tons by the end of 2021. Palm oil production will be 19.6 million tons (19.1) and palm oil exports will reach 4.8 million tons (+10%). Oil consumption is predicted to reach 15.5 - 15.6 million tons. In Indonesia, production will be 45 million tons (42.3) and exports will fall by 10%.

- In 2021, the wheat production in India will reach a record 109.24 million tons (+1.3% compared to 2020). Rice production is projected at 120.32 million tons (+1.2%). The total grain production is expected to reach 303.34 million tons (297.5). The rapeseed production is predicted at 10.4 million tons (9.1).

- On February 24, 2021, Jordan purchased 60,000 tons of milling wheat of any origin. The wheat is from Romania at a price of 279 USD/ton C&F and delivery at the end of October.
