In the March report, analysts from IGC predict that world's total corn production will reach a record 1.193 million tons in 2021/22

- In the March report, analysts from the IGC forecast that the world's total grain production will reach 2.287 million tons in 2021/22 (2.224 million tons in 2020/21).


The world's wheat production is expected to reach 789.6 million tons (+15.4 million tons compared to 2020/21 or 774.2), including:

  • Argentina - 20.3 million tons (17.2)
  • EU - 136.8 million tons (124.4)
  • Ukraine - 27.2 million tons (25.5)
  • US - 51.1 million tons (49.7)
  • China - 136 million tons (134.3)
  • India - 110.7 million tons (107.9)

World's total wheat exports will reach 183.8 million tons (189.7), including:

  • US - 24.6 million tons (26.8)
  • Russia - 34.1 million tons (38.9)
  • Canada - 24.6 million tons (26.7)
  • Australia - 17.5 million tons (20.5)

Total world's ending stocks of wheat are projected at 304.3 million tons (292.3), including:

  • Argentina - 2 million tons (1.8)
  • Canada - 6.2 million tons (5.3)
  • EU - 11.9 million tons (10.4)
  • Kazakhstan - 1.7 million tons (1.6)
  • China - 141.6 million tons (138.2)
  • India - 30.7 million tons (27.3)

World's total corn exports are projected at 186.8 million tons (+1.2), including:

  • Ukraine - 30.5 million tons (+6.5)
  • EU - 3.1 million tons (+0.9)
  • US - 67.5 million tons (-2.5)
  • Argentina - 32 million tons (-5.9, and for 2022/23 34 million tons)
  • Brazil - 35.5 million tons

The world's ending corn stocks are estimated to reach 257.9 million tons (-10.3), including:

  • US - 35.4 million tons (+0.3)
  • EU - 6.4 million tons (+0.3)
  • South Africa - 3 million tons (+0.9)
  • China - 169.4 million tons (-12.2)

- The European Commission expects a rapeseed production in the EU in 2021 of 16.68 million tons (16.13 million tons in 2020), sunflower production of 10.82 million tons (8.73) and soybean production of 2.87 million tons (2.6). The soft wheat production is projected at 126.7 million tons (+9.6 million tons) and exports are estimated at 30 million tons (+3).

- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 20,000 contracts of corn, 13,500 contracts of soybeans and 8,000 contracts of wheat.

- As of March 7, 2021, farmers in Argentina have sold 12.45 million tons of soybeans from the 2020/21 crop compared to 17.45 million tons a year earlier. Corn sales reached 19.6 million tons (-1.5 million tons).

- Farmers in Argentina have started the soybean harvesting campaign. Sunseed has already been harvested on 74% of the area at an average yield of 2.14 tons/hectare. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange kept its forecast for the sunflower production unchanged at 2.7 million tons, which is the lowest level since 2014. In 2020, sunflower production was 3 million tons. The harvesting campaign of corn is now slow paced - only 1.1% of total corn areas was harvested for the week (7% in total since the beginning of the campaign) compared to 14% on average for the last five years. 3.2 million tons of corn were harvested at an average yield of 7.36 tons/hectare. Recent rainfall is the reason for the delay. Now 71% of the area with cereals in the country (+4% for the week) has a sufficient level of moisture.

- On March 25, 2021, the South Korean NOFI purchased 131,000 tons of feed wheat of any origin at a price of 267.49 - 287 USD/ton C&F + 1.25 USD/ton and delivery in August.

- Ethiopia has announced a tender for the purchase of 400,000 tons of milled wheat.
