- Over the past week, the FOB price of rapeseed with delivery within July - August in Ukraine has risen by 20 - 30 USD/ton to 650 - 660 USD/ton. In Canada, canola crops have so far received periodic light rainfall. In Ukraine, rainfall is sufficient but the weather is cold and crop development is slow which could lead to lower yields. Weather conditions are favourable in Australia and ABARE has raised its forecast for the 2021/22 canola production from 3.5 million tons to 4.2 million tons. Rising oil prices are also expected to affect the market and growth in world's biodiesel production is expected.
- Over the period of 01.07.2020 - 06.06.2021, soybean imports to the EU (excluding Great Britain) reached 14.24 million tons (14.30 million tons a year earlier). Soymeal imports reached 15.84 million tons (16.96), palm oil imports were 4.89 million tons (5.42) and rapeseed imports were 6.03 million tons (5.78).
- As of 01.06.2021,9.216 million hectares have been sown with cereals in France (+3.4% compared to last year and -0.3% compared to the average level for the last five years). 4,902 million hectares (+15% and +1.1%) were sown with soft wheat, 275,000 hectares (+ 9.3% and -14.8%) with durum wheat, 1,808 million hectares (-8.3% and -4.9%) with barley and 1.424 million hectares with corn (-11.5% and -0.8%).
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 4,750 soybean contracts, corn neutral and net sellers of 4,000 wheat contracts.
- As of 30.05.202, 90% of the planned areas for soybeans have been sown in the United States. The plants have sprouted in 74% of the area. 67% of the crops are in good and excellent condition (72% a year earlier). 72% of the soybean crops (75%) and 50% of the winter wheat crops are in good and excellent condition. The harvesting campaign of winter wheat has begun.
- DASAGRO forecasts that the average corn yield in Paraguay will reach 86-95 bushels/acre and corn areas will reach 34.85 million acres (+ 19%).
- ABARES has sharply increased its forecast for wheat production in Australia in 2021/22 to 27.8 million tons (25 million tons in the March forecast). The barley production will reach 10.4 million tons (8.8) and the rapeseed production is projected at 4.2 million tons (3.5). The total grain production is estimated at 46.8 million tons (55.2 million tons last season).
