Over the past week, sunseed prices in Ukraine have increased by 23.7 USD/ton due to the rise in sunseed oil prices. Spot market prices for sunseed oil range from 1,090 to 1,100 USD/ton CPT, while sunseed meal is priced at 212–220 USD/ton CPT. Export quotations for Russian sunseed oil have remained unchanged since the beginning of the year at 1,045–1,065 USD/ton FOB.
Between July 1, 2024, and January 20, 2025, Ukraine exported 24.193 million tons of grain crops, compared to 22.246 million tons a year earlier. In January, exports totaled 1.961 million tons, down from 3.682 million tons the previous year. Wheat exports amounted to 10.334 million tons (0.421 million tons in January), barley exports reached 2.021 million tons (0.022 million tons in January), and corn exports were 11.4 million tons (1.513 million tons in January).
The Rosario Grain Exchange has lowered its forecast for Argentina’s 2024/25 corn production to 48 million tons, down from a previous estimate of 50–51 million tons. The soybean production forecast remains unchanged at 53–53.5 million tons despite a sharp deterioration in crop conditions. A downward revision for soybeans is likely at a later stage. The reductions are due to a lack of rainfall in December and January.
According to Oil World data, Malaysia’s palm oil exports reached a four-year high in 2024 at 16.9 million tons, an increase of 1.8 million tons from the previous year. At the end of December, palm oil stocks in the country stood at just 1.7 million tons, down from 2.29 million tons a year earlier. For the first time in nine months, exports declined in December to 1.34 million tons. January exports are expected to be between 1.1 and 1.2 million tons, compared to 1.35 million tons in December. Between January 1 and 15, exports totaled 0.57 million tons, down 15% from December 2023 and 10% from January 2024.
Jordan has announced a tender for the import of 120,000 tons of milling wheat and 120,000 tons of feed barley with delivery over April–May. Last week, the country purchased 60,000 tons of wheat at a price of 267.60 USD/ton.
