Saudi Arabia announced an auction for the purchase of 1,5 mln tons of barley tobe delivered between March and May. 945,000 tons of barley were purchased at the previous auction at 177 – 192 USD/ton C&F to be delivered between January and March.

Algeria bought 585,000 tons of wheat on February 1, 2017 at 203 – 207 USD/ton C&F.

Iraq postponed an auction for the purchase of at least 50,000 tons of hard wheat from Faebruary 5, 2017 to February 12, 2017. There are supplier changes. Only Australian, Canadian and American suppliers featured in the initial auction list. Barley from all over the world is demanded now.

Oil World reported that the import of the three main oilseeds (sunflower, soybean and rapeseed) in Turkey increased to 270,000 tons in December 2016 compared with 248,000 tons in December 2015. Soybean import reached 240,000 tons (214,000), sunflower import is at 27,000 tons (24,000) and rapeseed export was 4,000 tons (10,000). Soybean import in the country decreased to 2.18 mln tons (2.26) in 2016 with purchases from Ukraine falling to a 27% share. American deliveries fell too, whereas those from South America were on the increase. Sunflower import reached 424,000 tons (412,000) and rapeseed import was 239,000 tons (249,000) throughout the year.

Wheat import in India will be 4.5 mln tons in 2016 - 2017. 2.9 mln tons of wheat have been imported so far, and the season ends on March 31, 2017. The authorities can refund the import tax then.

Latest reports from Egypt claim that the country's wheat stocks are sufficient to meet a 5-month domestic demand.

Wheat yield in Russia reached record 72.5 mln tons compared with 61 mln tons in 2015 – 2016, barley yield reached 17.5 mln tons (17.1) and corn was at 14.5 mln tons (13.2). Grain export will be 39 mln tons compared with 38 mln tons in the previous forecast. Wheat export will be 29 mln tons (25.5), barley export will be 3.5 mln tons (4.2) while corn export will reach 5.3 mln tons (4.7). 20.8 mln tons of grain (-3%) were exported from the country in the first half of the season.
