USA: Corn Export Is 76% Up In The First Third Of The Season

The USA exported 18.192 mln tons of corn in the first four months of the season, which started in September; this is a 76% increase on the same period of the previous season.

Mexico was the top buyer with 4.423 mln tons of corn followed by Japan with 3.534 and South Kore with 1.948 (only 73,700 tons a year earlier).

3.957 billion litres of ethanol were exported from the USA in 2016, which was 27% higher than 2015 and was the peak level for the past five years. The export to Brazil increased by +584.5 mln litres upon 2015, the export to China increased by +398.5 mln litres while the export to India was  +176.0 mln litres up. Brazil with 1 010.8 mln litres, Canada with 981.4 mln litres and China with 678.1 mln litres were the biggest American ethanol buyers.

333,800 tons of flour were exported from the USA in 2016, which is a 15% increase on 2015. 206,600 tons (+32%) were exported to Mexico while 101,800 tons (+9%) were exported to Canada. Kenya remains third with the import of 5,400 tons of flour (-52%).

Weekly wheat export from the USA for the period was 527,300 tons from the current harvest and 16,300 tons from the new harvest. So far this season, there is a 37.4% wheat export advance on the previous year compared with 36.4% a week earlier.
