FAO Estimates Lower Wheat Yield In The World In 2017 – 2018

FAO estimates that Russian wheat ield will be 1% higher in 2017 versus the one in 2016 and will reach 74 mln tons.

Favourable weather conditions in Europe as well as the increased areas will push the yield up by 3.8% to 150 mln tons. Yield in Ukraine will go 3.8% down to 25 mln tons while Kazakhstan will have a 9.4% decrease down to 13.5 mln tons.

On the whole, wheat yield will fall worldwide by 1.8% down to 744.5 mln tons in the new season.

The yield in the USA will take a 20.5% fall down to 50 mln tons, decline in Canada will be 9.8% to 28.6 mln tons whereas yield in Australia will be 20.2% lower at 28 mln tons. Australia and partially Canada will return to a normal production cycle. 

28.5 mln tons of wheat will be exported from Russia in 2016 - 2017, which makes the country number 1 exporter in the world.

IGC projects a world wheat yield of 735 mln tons.
