On May 10th, 2017 Algeria purchased at least 50 000 tonnes of soft wheat of optional origin, with July shipment. The exact amount of wheat purchased is not reported. This is the country's first auction for the purchase of the new crop wheat. Deal’s price is 198 - 198.5 USD/mt.
On May 11th, 2017, China's government held an auction for the sale of 2.504 mln. tonnes of corn of the 2013 crop. 2.139 mln. tonnes of corn were auctioned at average price of 199.64 USD/mt. At the beginning of May, the state's stocks of corn amount to 230 mln. tonnes, which is equal to the annual corn consumption in the country.
In March, barley export from France rose to 808,000 tonnes, which is the best result from the beginning of the season and is by 8% more than in February. The largest buyers were Saudi Arabia 363,000 tonnes compared to 132,000 tonnes a year earlier. From the beginning of the season (June 2016), barley export from France to EU countries reached 3.85 mln. tonnes (-37%), and to non-EU countries 1.83 mln. tonnes (-53%).
According to Oil World, in April, Argentina exported 5,000 tonnes of sunflower given 119,000 tonnes a year earlier. The decline is related to the large internal processing, which will reach the maximum for the last five years of 3.1 mln. tonnes. In April, the sunflower oil export was 96,000 tonnes (79,000), incl. for India 30 000 tonnes (23 000) and Egypt 25 000 tonnes (0). Export of sunflower meal reaches 120,000 tonnes (84,000). During the period January - April, 23,000 tonnes of sunflower (149,000), 269,000 tonnes of sunflower oil (295,000) and 345,000 tonnes (287,000) of sunflower meal were exported from Argentina.
According to forecast of Oil World, in the new season rapeseed yield in the EU will amount to 21 mln. tonnes, which is by 0.3 mln. tonnes less than the previous year. This will be the second lowest result for the past five years.
According to Oil World, in March Australia exported 567,000 tonnes of canola given only 161,000 tonnes in March 2016. In the first three months of the season, Australia exported to the EU the record 1.59 mln. tonnes of canola compared to 741,000 tonnes a year earlier. The immense export to the EU is expected to continue in the coming months, leading to a record high result for the entire history of the country.
According to FranceAgriMer, the ending stocks of soft wheat in France during the current season will be 2.4 mln. tonnes (2.6 mln. tonnes in the previous forecast), which is 0.9 mln. tonnes less than the previous season. This will be a minimum result for the past three years. The export of soft wheat from the country will be 5.2 million tonnes (+0.2 and -60.4%).
