Crop is expected at 3.4 million tonnes. Producers, however, expect the aresa to be close to 2 million hectares. In 2007 – 2008, with sunflower in Argentina were sown 2.6 million hectares.

FAS USDA predicts that in 2017 - 2018, sunflower export from Argentina will reach 170,000 tonnes, which is slightly below the level of the previous year. The largest buyers are Algeria, Turkey, Mexico, USA, Brazil and the EU. Export from Argentina account for only 5% of the sunflower crop.
