The US: Import duty on biodiesel provokes growth in prices of vegetable oils

On August 22, 2017 the US Trade Department imposed restriction duties on import of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia

The import duty on Argentine biodiesel is 64.17% and Indonesia 68.28%.

Analysts recall that the competitiveness of Argentina's biodiesel is lost at a 15% duty. In the import structure, Argentina's biodiesel amounted to 30% or 916 million gallons. So the domestic consumption of vegetable oil in the United States will grow to meet the annual biodiesel consumption of 3.5 billion gallons.
