- According to data from the Ministry of Agricultre of Russia, 95% of winter crops in Russia are in good and satisfactory condition (95% in January). The areas sown with winter crops reached 17.7 million hectares (18.4 a year earlier). Farmers have started sowing early spring crops.
- According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agricultre of Ukraine, the areas with all crops in the country will be 22 million hectares in 2023, which is 24.1% less than in 2021.
- According to the APC-Inform estimate, in 2023 the grain production in Ukraine will reach 45.6 million tons (52.6 in 2022). Total grain areas are estimated at 10.1 million hectares (-12%), including -16% lower wheat areas, -6% less barley areas and -11% less corn areas. Average grain yield is expected to reach 4.65 tons/hectare (4.58).
- Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 397,000 tons of Ukrainian grain have been exported by rail from Moldova. 363,600 tons of petroleum products were delivered.
- According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of France, the wheat areas in the country will be 4.76 million hectares in 2023 (4.75 in the December estimate, +2% compared to 2022, +0.4% compared to the average level for the last 5 years). Rapeseed areas will be 1.34 million tons (1.29, +9% and +11%). Areas with spring barley will reach 1.34 million tons (+3.7% compared to 2022), and durum wheat areas are projected at 233,000 tons (-4.8%).
- Over the period of July - December 2022/23, 707,000 tons of wheat were delivered to the UK (1.1 million tonnes a year earlier). In December alone, imports reached 155,400 tons (67,900). Wheat exports totalled 576,100 tons (239,600), including wheat exports of 143,900 tons in December.
- According to NOPA's estimate, soybean processing in the United States reached 4.94 million tons in January, which is 2.3% more than December 2022 - 4.83 million tons. During the month, U.S. soyoil stocks rose by 6.4%, down 5.9% from the end of January 2022.
- The authorities in China are moving towards accelerated creation of conditions for increasing the production of grain and oil crops in the country. An increase of 50 million tons is sought, while the current production is about 650 million tons.
- The Philippines bought 110,000 tons of feed wheat most likely from the United States or Australia at prices of 332-335 USD/ton C&F and delivery within June-July.
