Drought slows down soybean sowing in Brazil

According to AgRural report, at the beginning of the current week, soybean sowing is completed at 0.3%, far below the indicator from previous year - 5%

In recent weeks, the campaign was almost ended, as farmers expect rainfall after prolonged drought.

Up to now, the most active sowing took place in the state of Parana - 1.7% of the planned areas.

Analysts estimate the soybean crop in 2017-2018. to 109.7 million tonnes.

According to data from the Brazilian state Parana, which is a key wheat producer in Brazil, crop harvesting in the first week of September is completed on 16% of the areas, which is at the level of recent years. However, the harvest slows down in the states of Riu Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. Wheat yields in these three key states are not expected to be high due to drought during the growing season.
