The government of Zimbabwe has created a 140-million USD reserve for the purchase of corn from farmers with the aim of establishing strategic stocks. These stocks are currently below 250,000 tons, which is 50% of the optimal level.
According to the latest survey by the Centre for Economic Research of Agriculture, 3.5 – 3.7 mln tons of wheat will be exported from Bulgaria during the current season.
On February 28, 2017, Egypt's National Company GASC purchased the record high 535,000 tons of milling wheat to be delivered Between April 1 and April 10, 2017. The purchase included 235,000 tons of Russian wheat, 120,000 tons of Romanian wheat, 120,000 tons of French wheat and 60,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat.
On March 1, 2017, Japan purchased 8,830 tons of wheat to be delivered before the end of June. 113,167 tons of milling wheat were bought, to be delivered between April 21 and May 31, 2017.
